Ruffwear Double Back Harness

Double back harness

Double back harness

We used the Ruffwear double back harness for Jake and found it to be a bit too bulky/cumbersome for everyday use. It provides quite a bit more support under the belly than the webmaster (which we recently bought for Tanner), and I really loved that aspect. Assisting Jake in and out of our SUV with this was great especially since I couldn’t pick him up (he was 50lbs). Getting it on and off was a bit of a chore (granted, Jake wasn’t exactly cooperative).  I also ended up having to stop and adjust it multiple times on our hikes, usually around where front leg was missing because it would slide to that side. It could be that because Jake had no shoulder the harness just didn’t fit properly. We also took him to the oncologist on a few occasions with the harness on and they could never figure out how to put it back on (or they just didn’t feel like bothering with it). We never used the rear leg straps though for a bigger dog, front leg amp, I think they’d be very useful.

Overall, I think a good harness for dogs who are going to do some serious hiking, otherwise for everyday use the Webmaster is much more practical.
